Summoned to the Abbott home by his sister Gina Roma (who wishes to let him off the hook from holding her hand over the loss of her restaurant), Danny reveals he is happy to stick around for the time being. Gina has little difficulty working out that her former sister-in-law Christine Blair, is behind Danny's reluctance to leave town and Danny notes that Gina is happy with the support of old friend, Mr Abbott.

Diners at the Genoa City Athletic Club were spared from witnessing an embarrassing confrontation between Private Eye Paul Williams and new Assistant D.A. Christine Blair, when Danny Romalotti's timely arrival defused the situation. Witnesses to the scene state that Ms Blair was unable to control her emotions when she spied her ex husband dancing with Fenmore Store owner and Paul's current squeeze, Lauren Fenmore. Tempers flared but Danny swooped in and rescued the fair maiden from further embarrassment and invited her and fellow drinking buddy, Lynne Basset to join him for

sparkling water at the bar. The pair soon found themselves alone when Lynne excused herself after watching her boss and Ms Fenmore leave. Danny refused to let his former wife drown in her misery and whisked her on to the dance floor where, according to fellow dancers, she soon found comfort in his arms.

The following morning, Christine Blair interrupted Danny's daydream of the previous evening's dancing, when she stopped by the Genoa City Athletic Club once again. She admitted she was hoping to run into her knight in shining armour, so that she could thank him for rescuing her from making a complete fool of herself. Christine then offered to buy Danny breakfast and they were seen laughing together and reminiscing about old times. Anxious to know whether they would see each other again, Christine informed Danny that she certainly hoped they would.

Shoppers at the Boutique were surprised to see Danny Romalotti drop by on Christmas Eve and noted that his gift shopping needs were personally attended to by Lauren Fenmore! Guessing correctly that the jewelry was destined for Christine Blair, Lauren disclosed that Ms Blair was now alone and encouraged him to distract his former spouse from her obsession with Paul Williams. When questioned by Danny, Lauren could not deny that she hoped to benefit from Paul being a free agent.

Christine was pleasantly surprised to open her front door to find a smiling Danny, full of the Holiday spirit. Not only the bearer of an unexpected gift, Danny had dropped by to invite her to join him at the Abbott Family Christmas Party. Christine was delighted when she opened Danny's gift to discover he still remembered her love of bracelets. Not wanting Danny to go away empty handed she presented him with the gift she had intended for Paul. Danny was thrilled by the designer sunglasses and said he would treasure them always. Revealing that she has missed Gina's famous lasagne, Chris agreed to accompany Danny to the Christmas Party his sister was hosting.

Greeting Danny on his arrival at the Christmas Party, Gina was curious to know whether he had come alone. Danny informed his sister that he would shortly be joined by Christine who had been detained at the office. Later when mingling with the other guests at the party, Christine let slip to Ashley that Victor Newman had been arrested. Whilst discussing Ashley's reaction to the news, Danny's remark that forgiveness can be tough was met by Chris' comment and smile, that in some cases it is easy. The party came to a festive conclusion when Danny and Gina joined together to sing, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and everyone gathered around the piano to listen.
New Year predictions state that Danny and Christine will rekindle old feelings and grow close again, however Paul will discover that Danny is hiding a secret. It remains to be seen whether Paul's new found knowledge will effect Danny and Cricket's blossoming romance and tear them apart once more.......
