Part Two
- Evansville, IN
6/28/02
7.00AM Time to get up. Us girls decide
to stay behind and relax while Michael and Larry head off in the limo
to do the morning show. See ya later fellas! I grabbed the radio and
tuned in to WSTO so we could listen to the show. It went really well.
The morning show hosts, Jack and Diane talked about the new song, and
asked if he was going to return to Y&R. They played SHADOWS, and ROCK
ON. Michael called his father in law James Best (of Dukes of Hazzard
fame) and gave clues for listeners to call in and guess who it was.
With one Roscoe P. Coltrane laugh, it was enough for a caller to realize
who it was.

An hour or so later Michael and Larry
returned. They had some phone calls to make and some business
to take care of, so Kim, Catherine and I head out to grab some
lunch for all of us and do a little sight seeing before heading
back to go to sound check.
4:00PM. The limo picks us up and makes
the short drive to the Freedom Festival stage for sound check.
We arrive just in time for Michael to do a TV interview for a
local station. Next it's time for the actual sound check. Michael
and Larry hop on stage to check the microphones, monitors, and
make sure the soundman has the correct order for the tracks.
After everything was all checked and
ready to go, we went to the terrace of Old National Bank (the
sponsors of the event) for a catered Italian dinner with VIP's
from the Freedom Festival. When we are finished, we get back in
the limo and head to the B&B to get ready for the concert.

As we are about to leave for the concert,
our radio station contact Barb informs us that there is a crazy
storm pounding the Freedom Festival, and the 4,500 plus people
awaiting the upcoming concert. Those nasty storms have followed
us again! After about a 45-minute wait, we are informed that the
storm has passed, and we are good to go. Yippeee! So we all load
into the limo and head back to the venue.
When we arrive, Kaci is just finishing
up her set, so Michael starts his vocal warms ups to prepare for
his set, which is next. Catherine, Kim and I head out front to
get a good spot to watch the performance. Needless to say, the
performance was great. It was a thrill to see Michael on stage
performing once again. He started out with SHADOWS IN THE NIGHT,
followed by WILD IRISH HEART, STILL MAD ABOUT YOU, and WAS IT
NOTHING AT ALL. His encore was ROCK ON. Of course about
|
midway through, the rain started up again,
so by the end we were all a little drenched!
After his set, Michael was gracious enough
to stop and pose for pictures and sign autographs
for fans eagerly awaiting him. Finally, it was almost midnight and it
was time to head back to start packing and be ready to leave for the
Louisville, Kentucky airport at 3:30AM. Michael had to take an early
flight because of an early afternoon event in Florida on Saturday.

Beep, beep. The alarm goes off, it's 3:00
AM already? Did I even sleep at all? I hop out of bed, go knock on Larry's
door to make sure he is awake and then head over to wake up Michael.
He asks for "just 15 minutes more, please?" So, I let him catch a few
more winks. 3:25 AM, and we are on the road again. Kim and Catherine
are following behind in Kim's car. 2 hours later we arrive at the airport
in Louisville. Kim and I bid Michael, Larry, and Catherine a fond farewell
with kisses and hugs goodbye and head home to recuperate from our fun
filled, fast paced road trip with Michael Damian.
